Baby blankets come in standard sizes for different uses: receiving blanket, pram blanket, crib blanket, and toddler blanket. Knowing the standard sizes helps choose the right yardage and the right pattern.

Receiving blanket
70 × 70 cm (28 × 28 inches). Used for swaddling newborns. The smallest standard size and the most common gift.
Pram / stroller blanket
60 × 90 cm (24 × 36 inches). Long and narrow to fit over a pram or stroller. Easy to tuck around a baby.
