Terms of use

StitchVault is offered in good faith as a free, public reference. By using the site you agree to the short, plain terms below. Where the legal language could go either way, we've chosen the friendlier interpretation — but the terms still apply.

You can

  • Read every pattern in your browser, on any device, as many times as you like.
  • Print pattern pages for your own reference and carry them around in a project bag.
  • Knit any pattern in the catalogue for yourself, your family, and as gifts.
  • Sell the finished objects you knit at a small scale (craft fairs, friends, local shops) — you made them by hand, they're yours.
  • Link to any page on the site, embed our pattern thumbnails in social posts, and quote short excerpts in reviews and tutorials, as long as you credit StitchVault and the pattern's designer.

Please don't

  • Re-host the patterns themselves on another site, in another app, or as a downloadable bundle. Link back instead.
  • Sell the patterns, or sell access to them, in any form.
  • Train commercial machine-learning models on the catalogue without asking first.
  • Strip designer credits from any pattern when you share it.
  • Scrape the site at high volume — a polite human read of one page per few seconds is fine; a thousand requests per minute is not.

No warranty

The patterns are offered as-is, free of charge. We review them carefully but knitting is a craft, and a pattern that works perfectly for one knitter sometimes needs adjustment for another. If you spot a real error, please tell us using the contact page and we'll fix it.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. Substantive changes will be announced on the home page for at least a month. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
