Privacy policy

StitchVault was built with the assumption that the web works better when it remembers less about you. This page describes, plainly, what we collect and why.

What we collect from your browser

When you load a page on StitchVault, your browser sends our server a request that includes the URL you asked for, your IP address, your user-agent string (browser and operating system), the referring page if any, and a timestamp. We log this request for fourteen days in a rotating server log so we can find broken pages, fix them, and see whether the catalogue is loading well in different parts of the world. After fourteen days the log line is deleted.

Cookies

StitchVault sets no cookies of its own. We do not have user accounts, shopping carts, sign-in flows, or personalisation, so there is nothing for a cookie to remember about you. If you arrive at StitchVault with cookies already set by another site, those continue to work — we just don't add to them.

Advertising

StitchVault is supported by a small number of clearly-marked ads served by a third-party ad network. Ads are placed in fixed positions on the page (header, in-content, sidebar on pattern pages, footer) and are labelled as "Advertisement" so you can tell them apart from the catalogue. The ad network sets its own cookies subject to its own policies; if you'd rather not see ads, a content-blocker is fine and will not break the site.

Analytics

We use server-side aggregate analytics derived from the request log described above. We do not run JavaScript-based analytics like Google Analytics on the site. We do not build profiles of individual visitors and we do not sell or share visitor information with anyone.

Email

If you write to us, we keep your email and the message in our inbox indefinitely so we can search past correspondence when you write again. We will never add you to a mailing list — there is no mailing list.

Children

StitchVault is suitable for any age but is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the bottom of this page and post a short note on the home page for at least a month so regular visitors notice.
