Stockinette Stitch
About this stitch
Worked flat over any number of stitches. Row 1 (RS): knit. Row 2 (WS): purl. The smooth "V" face is the front; the bumpy face is reverse stockinette. Curls at the edges; needs a border or a wet block.
A reliable ground stitch for sweaters, blankets, scarves, and the body of any project where the focus is on yarn or shape rather than stitch pattern.
Stitch chart
