K3tog (Knit Three Together)
K3tog is a right-leaning double decrease that converts three stitches into one in a single motion. It is the right-leaning mirror of SK2P and the right-leaning equivalent of k2tog.
Recommended A printable technique cheat-sheet for your knitting bag.
Mechanics
Insert the right needle through the next three stitches on the left needle as if to knit. Wrap the yarn and pull through all three. Slip all three off together. Three stitches become one.
Visual leaning
A strong right lean above the decrease site. On stockinette, the decrease reads as a noticeable diagonal going up and to the right.

Pairing with SK2P
In symmetric double-decrease shaping (raglan with double decreases, sleeve caps in lace), pair k3tog on the right side with SK2P on the left.
Tension
K3tog tightens the row above by combining three stitches into one. If you find the decrease pulls in too much, work it on a needle one size up or block aggressively.

Tips
- Always pair k3tog with SK2P for symmetric double-decrease shaping.
- For a slightly looser k3tog, knit the three stitches loosely or use a needle one size up.
- In garter stitch, k3tog is nearly invisible and can be used as a discreet shaping tool.
In depth
K3tog combines three stitches into one in a single right-leaning motion. The third stitch from the left needle becomes the dominant column above the decrease, which is why the lean is strong and to the right.
