Wash Cloths Pattern #938

Pattern

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, 1 ball of a light color and 1 ball of a dark color.
Milward's Casein knitting pins, 1 pair No. 1 (2½ mm. size).
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4.

The amount of thread specified is sufficient for 2 wash cloths.

For woman's wash cloth, with light color, cast on 82 sts. 1st and 2nd rows: * K 1, p 1. Repeat from * across. 3rd and 4th rows: * P 1, k 1. Repeat from * across. Repeat these 4 rows for 9 inches. Bind off.

Border. With dark color, make a chain to measure about 13 inches, turn. 1st row: S c in 3rd ch from hook, s c in each ch across until row measures 10½ inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: S c in each s c across, Ch 2, turn. Repeat 2nd row for 1½ inches. Break off. Make 3 more strips same as this. Sew a strip around each side of wash cloth so that strips fit into each other at corners.

Trimming Motif. With dark color, work a triangle and 2 circles as for Seat Cover Pattern, and sew on as in illustration.

For man's wash cloth, work exactly as for woman's, but casting on 100 sts instead of 82. Make strips for border 14 inches long.
