Natural—7 1-oz. Balls; Dark Blue—2 1-oz. Balls Light Blue—1 1-oz. Ball

BACK: With Natural and No. 3 Needles cast on 120 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 10 rows. Work in striped stockinette st as follows: * 6 rows dark blue, 8 rows natural, 2 rows light blue, 4 rows natural, 2 rows light blue, 8 rows natural; repeat from * to neck edge. When piece measures 6 in. from lower edge, change to No. 2 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 11 in. from lower edge. Change to No. 3 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 17 in. from lower edge.

Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times. Work even until piece measures 4 in. from underarm. Work over 46 sts; place on st-holder. On remaining 46 sts, work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 5 in. from underarm. Work over 34 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 24 sts for front of neck. On remaining 34 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 101 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Work 1 row of s c around neck opening working 3 loops for buttonholes on right side. SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles and Natural cast on 51 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. P 1 row increasing to 70 sts. Work in pattern as on back increasing 1 st at each end every 8th row to 88 sts. Work even until piece measures 18 in. from lower edge. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times.

Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 16 sts remain.

Bind of remaining sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
