Jack Frost Fingering Fleece
Natural—5 1-oz. Balls; Green—3 1oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles and Natural cast on 98 sts. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 3½ in. Change to No. 3 Needles and purl 1 row increasing to 126 sts. Work in striped stockinette st pattern as follows: * 2 rows Green, 4 rows Natural; repeat from * to shoulder edge. When piece measures 12 in. from lower edge, bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 10 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 10 rows, then change to No. 3 Needles and continue ribbing for 10 more rows. Bind off loosely.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 5 in. from underarm. Work over 37 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 24 sts for front of neck. On remaining 37 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 7 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row 5 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of gar­ment, pick up 73 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, for 10 rows. Change to No. 3 Needles and con­tinue ribbing for 10 more rows. Bind off loosely. Sew shoulder neckband and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles and natural cast on 52 sts. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 3 in. Change to No. 3 Needles and purl 1 row increasing to 62 sts. Work in striped pattern increas­ing 1 st at each end every 10th row to 88 sts. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 22 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts. Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place. Turn collar down about 1½ ins.
