Infant Size

MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 3 balls (1 oz. balls) … Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 6 (4¼ mm. size) … 1 yard of ribbon, ½ inch wide.

GAUGE: (Garter st) 5½ sts make 1 inch.

   Starting at back waistband, cast on 56 sts. Work tightly in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1½ inches. Now work in garter st (k each row) until piece measures 7 inches in all. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 until piece measures 12 inches in all. Now work in garter st until piece measures 17½ inches. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1½ inches (piece measures 19 inches in all). Bind off loosely in ribbing (front waist­band).
   Fold piece in half and, starting at top of waistbands, sew side seams to­gether for 7 inches. Run ribbon in and out through center of waistband.
