Pattern
Size 6-8 years
MATERIAL:
2 balls Sportyarn (2 oz. ball)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 2 and No. 4
1 set sock needles No. 2
GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch
PATTERN:
1st row: * Work 7 sts. seed st., P2, K6, P2, repeat from * across row, end 7 sts. seed st.
Continue to work in pattern as on Sweater No. 207 only cable the K6 sts. every 8th row on right side.
BACK: Cast on 88 sts. with No. 2 needles and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 2½ inch., increasing 4 sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 4 needles and pattern. With 92 sts. work even until the entire piece measures 9½ inch, or any desired length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 6 sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. Work even for 6½ inch, from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 rows 8 sts., the next 2 rows 9 sts., rem. 26 sts. bind off for neck.
FRONT: Work front the same way as back until armhole is bound off. Work over 38 sts. in pattern and slip them to a holder. Work over rem. 38 sts. only and decr, for neck 1 st. at center edge every other row until 25 sts. are left over. Work as high as back, and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 8 sts. twice and 9 sts. once. Connect the yarn to other side of neck and finish this side to correspond.
FINISHING: Sew up shoulder and side seams. Right side facing you, pick up with No. 2 sockneedles 111 sts. around the neck and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 6 rows, decr. 1 st. before and after the center st. at V-neck every other row. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Pick up the same way around armhole 102 sts. and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 6 rows. Bind off as neck. Steam lightly.
