Size 6, Size 4 in parenthesis
MATERIAL:
4 (3) balls Fingering Yarn 3 ply (1 oz. ball)
1 circular knitting needle No. 3
Elastic for waistband
GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch
Starting at waist, cast on 204 (187) sts., join being careful not to twist sts. K plain for 1 inch. P 1 round, K plain for 1 inch (hem). Change to pattern:
1st and 2nd round: *K12, P1, K3, P1, repeat from * all around.
3rd round: * K12, P1, slip next 3 sts. to an extra needle and hold in back of work, K next st., K the 3 sts. from extra needle (a drawn cable made). Repeat from * all around.
4th, 5th and 6th rounds incl.: Like first round.
7th round: * K12, slip next st. to an extra needle and hold in front of work, K next 3 sts., K the st. from extra needle (a drawn cable made), P1, repeat from * all around.
8th, 9th and 10th rounds incl.: Like 1st round.
Repeat pattern from 3rd to 10th round for entire skirt and increase 1 st. at the beg. and end of every K12 gore every 1¼ inch. 3 (2) times, every 1½ inch. twice, every 2 inch. once. Work even until entire skirt measures 12½ (11) inch. or any desired length, then work 10 rounds K 1 round, P 1 round. Bind off.
FINISHING: Sew hem down at waistline, leaving a few sts. open to pull elastic through. Steam skirt lightly.
