Jack Frost Sport Yarn
Natural—5 2-oz. Balls; Green—2 2-oz. Balls
BACK: With No. 2 Needles east on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 114 sts. Work in pattern as given on chart A always being sure to twist yarns when changing colors, for 14 rows. Change to natural and work even in stockinette st until piece measures 11 in. from lower edge, then work in pattern as given on chart B until piece measures 12½ in. from lower edge. Following the chart, bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times. Work even (continuing pattern) until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.
FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 4½ in. from underarm. Work over 33 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 27 sts for front of neck. On remaining 33 sts, work 2 rows even, decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.
FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 75 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.
SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles cast on 47 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 59 sts. Work as given on chart C for 14 rows. Work in stockinette st in natural, increasing 1 st at each end on the next and every 10th row thereafter to 79 sts. Work even until piece measures 16½ in. from lower edge, then work as given on chart D until piece measures 18 in. from lower edge. Following the chart, bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Work 3 rows even, then bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 21 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts.
Sew sleeve seams, Sew shoulder and underarm seams. Sew sleeves in place.
