Jack Frost Sport Yarn—5 2-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 117 sts. Work in pattern as follows: Row 1—P 5, *K 3, P 5; repeat from * across row. Row 2—K 5, * P 3, K 5; repeat from * across row. Repeat rows 1 and 2 five times. Row 13—P 1, * K 3, P 5; repeat from * ending K 3, P 1. Row 14—K 1, * P 3, K 5; repeat from * ending P 3, K 1. Repeat rows 13 and 14 five times. Work in pattern until piece measures 12½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; de­crease 1 st at each end every other row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at begin­ning of each of next 4 rows, then 7 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 2 Needles increasing to 37 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 9 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 4 in. from underarm. Work over 31 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 23 sts for front of neck. On remaining 31 sts, work 2 rows even; decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row 2 times, then 7 sts every other row 2 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of gar­ment, pick up 79 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, for 9 rows. Bind off.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles cast on 73 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 77 sts. Work in pattern increasing 1 st at each end on the 3rd and every 4th row thereafter to 85 sts. Work even until piece meas­ures 4 in. from lower edge. Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 4 times, then every 4th row 4 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 21 sts remain. Bind off remain­ing sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
