MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Sports (2 oz. balls) — 3(4-4) Brown (M C); 3(3-4) Beige Mix (C C)
1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 3 and 5 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 Talon Lightweight Separating Zipper 20 inch length
1 steel crochet hook No. 2
GAUGE:
6 sts = 1 inch; 8 rows = 1 inch on stockinette stitch
13 sts = 2 inches; 8 rows = 1 inch on ribbing
BACK: Using No. 3 needles and M C, cast on 114(122-126) sts. Row 1: P 2, * K 2, P 2, repeat from * across row. Row 2: K 2, * P 2, K 2, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 2 rows for 3 inches. Change to No. 5 needles and continue in pattern as established until piece measures 15(15-15½) inches. SHAPE ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 8(9-9) sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 7 times. Work even on 84(90-94) sts until armholes measure 7½(7¾-8) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 9(10-11) sts. At the beg of each of the next 4 rows bind off 9(10-10) sts. Bind off remaining 30(30-32) sts.
LEFT FRONT: Using No. 5 needles and C C, cast on 30 sts; join M C and cast on 28(32-36) sts. Row 1: Using M C, K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 28(32-36) sts; using C C, K 30 (front edge). Row 2: Using C C, P 30; using M C, K 2, P 2 in ribbing to end of row. Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures 15(15-15½) inches. SHAPE ARMHOLE: At arm edge bind off 9(10-10) sts. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 8 times. Work even on 41(44-48) sts until armhole measures 5½(5¾-6) inches. SHAPE NECK: At front edge bind off 8(8-11) sts once and 2 sts 3 times. Work even on 27(30-31) sts until armhole measures 7½(7¾-8) inches. SHAPE SHOULDER: At arm edge bind off 9(10-11) sts once and 9(10-10) sts twice.
RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to left front, reversing colors and all shaping.
SLEEVES: Using No. 3 needles and M C, cast on 52(56-56) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3 inches. Change to No. 5 needles and K 1 row. Break off M C. Join C C and continue in stockinette st, inc 1 st each end of needle every 1 inch 11(11-13) times. Work even on 74(78-82) sts until piece measures 18(18-18½) inches. SHAPE CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 7(9-9) sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row for 4½(4¾-5) inches. At the beg of each of the next 6 rows bind off 2 sts. Bind off remaining sts.
COLLAR: Using No. 3 needles and M C, cast on 106(106-110) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 4 inches. Bind off in ribbing.
FINISHING: Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Sew collar to neck edge. Using C C, work 1 row s c on each front edge. Block. Sew in zipper.
