REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 2-ounces of 4-ply Knitting Worsted
NEEDLES: 1-pr. #3 single pointed
CUFF: Starting at the cuff, cast on 31 sts and knit every row for 7 rows.
Next row: Knit across row, increasing 5 sts evenly spaced apart (36 sts). Work in the pattern as follows.
ROW 1: K 5, p 2, k 4, p 2, k 10, p 2, k 4, p 2, k 5.
ROW 2: P 5, k 2, p 4, k 2, p 10, k 2, p 4, k 2, p 5.
ROW 3: Repeat row 1.
ROW 4: Repeat row 2.
ROW 5: K 5, p 2, slip the next 2 sts onto a dble pt needle and hold in back of work, knit the next 2 sts, knit the 2 sts off the dble pt needle; p 2, k 10, cable on the next 4 sts, p 2, k 5.
ROW 6: P 5, k 2, p 4, k 2, p 10, k 2, p 4, k 2, p 5. Repeat rows 1 to 4. Next row: (Beading row): * k 2 sts together, yarn over, repeat from * across row, ending with yarn over, k 2 sts. Next row: Repeat row 6. Now work in the pattern until the mitten measures 2¼ inches above the beading. With the right side of the work facing you start to decrease. 1st dec: * k 4 sts, k 2 tog, repeat from * across row. Purl across next row. 2nd dec: * k 2 sts, k 2 tog, repeat from * across row. Purl across next row. Bind off all sts. Break yarn leaving 10 inches. Fold mitten in two. Sew across tip and along side of mitten. MAKE THE OTHER MITTEN THE SAME WAY. Trim with ribbon.
