REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 2-ounces of 4-ply Knitting Worsted
NEEDLES: 1-pr. #3 single pointed
CUFF: Cast on 36 sts and work as follows:
ROW 1: K 1, * p 2, k 2, repeat from * across row, ending with k 1.
ROW 2: P 1, * k 1, yarn over, k 1, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1.
ROW 3: K 1, * p 3, k 2, repeat from * across row, ending with k 1.
ROW 4: P 1, * slip 1 st, k 2, pass slip st over the 2 knitted sts, p 2, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1. Repeat these 4 rows for the pattern. Work until the piece measures 2 inches, ending with row 4. Decrease row: K 1, * p 2, k 2 tog, repeat from * across row, ending with p 2, k 1. Beading row: K 1, * yarn over, k 2 tog, repeat from * across row, ending with k 2 tog, yarn over, k 1. Purl across all sts on next row (29 sts). Now work in the stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) until the mitten measures 2¼ inches above the beading row, ending with a purl row.
1st dec: * k 3 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row, ending with k 4. Purl across next row. 2nd dec: * k 2 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Purl across next row. Bind off all sts. Break yarn leaving 10 inches. Fold mitten in two. Sew across tip and along side of the mitten. MAKE THE OTHER MITTEN THE SAME WAY.
