Infant's Shoulderette No. 4315

Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" INFANT'S WOOL, Article W 5
2-1 oz. Balls.
"STAR" SIX STRAND MERCERIZED EMBROIDERY COTTON, Article 50
1 Skein each of Pink, Blue, Yellow, and Green.
½ Yd. Narrow Ribbon.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 2.
1 Pr. each of Bone Knitting Needles No. 1 and No. 3.

On No. 1 needles, cast on 44 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1½ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and K 1 row increasing 1 st in each of the 1st 2 sts, then increasing 1 st in every other st (67 sts). Next row starts pattern.
1st Row. * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
2nd Row. * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across row ending with P 1.
3rd Row. Same as 2nd row.
4th Row. Same as 1st row.
Repeat these 4 rows for 18 inches ending with 1st row of pattern.
Next Row. K across row decreasing 2 sts at the beginning of row, then decrease every other st across remainder of row (44 sts).
Change to No. 1 needles and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1½ inches, break yarn.
Sew ribbing together.
With wrong side of work toward you, attach yarn about 3 inches from ribbing and work a row of shells to within 3 inches of opposite cuff for collar, (shells: * ch 3, 2 d c in same st, skip 3 rows, s c in next row, repeat from * across row), break yarn. With right side of work toward you, attach yarn in the same space with 1st shell and work a row of shells around remainder of shoulderette. Fold collar back about 1 inch and with "Star" Six Strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton, embroider sprays as illus­trated. With Pink, work a rambler rose, start with a cross stitch for center and work about 3 rows of outline st around cross stitch. With Blue, embroider 1 flower of 5 French Knots with a Yellow French Knot center. With Green, embroider stems in outline stitch and leaves in lazy daisy stitch having leaves about ⅜ in. long.
Attach ribbon at each end of collar.
