Size 4 to 6 years

MATERIAL:
1 skein Knitting Worsted (2 oz. skein) main color
1 skein Knitting Worsted (2 oz. skein) contrasting color
1 pair S.P. Knitting needles No. 5 (4 mm.)

GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch

SIDEPIECE: With No. 5 needles and c. c. cast on 18 sts. Work garter st. for 6 rows (3 ridges). Change to stock. st. and incr. 1 st. at the beg. of every K row 4 times (front edge). Work even until piece measures 2 inch. Then increase 1 st. every ½ inch. 4 times on the other end of piece (back edge). Work even until piece measures 5 inch. Bind off at back edge 2 sts. 4 times, rem. 18 sts. bind off. Work another piece to correspond.

CENTERPIECE: With No. 5 needles and m. c. cast on 24 sts. Work garter st. for 6 rows (3 ridges). Change to stock. st. and work even until the entire piece measures 10 inch. Bind off. Sew up the 3 pieces. With m .c., pick up 66 sts. around front of bonnet and work 6 rows (3 ridges) garter st.

NECKBAND: With m. c., cast on 8 sts. and K1, P1 for 30 inch. Bind off. Sew neckband on wrong side to bonnet. Steam lightly.
