Natural—8 1-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 3 Needles increasing to 123 sts at even intervals across row. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times. Work even until piece meas­ures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows, then 8 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows. Change to No. 2 Needles increasing to 39 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures 5 in. from lower edge ending on wrong side, then work in pattern as given in Fig. A on chart as follows: Row 1—K 81 Natural (N), join Jungle Green (JG), K 2 J G, 1 N, 1 J G, 38 N. Row 2— P 35 N, 2 J G, 1 N, 1 J G, 1 N, 2 J G, 81 N. Row 3—K 80 N, 2 J G, 1 N, 2 J G, 1 N, 3 J G, 34 N. Row 4—P 28 N, 2 J G, 5 N, 1 J G, 2 N, 2 J G, 83 N. Con­tinue following the chart until Fig. A is completed. Work 2 rows even in Natural, then start Fig. B on right side as follows: Row 1—K 43 N, 1 J G, 1 N, 2 J G, 76 N. Row 2—P 76 N, 2 J G, 1 N, 1 J G, 1 N, 2 J G, 40 N. Continue as given in Fig. B on chart until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; de­crease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times. Work even until Fig. B is completed, then continue with Natural in stock­inette st until piece measures 5 in. from underarm, ending on wrong side. Work over 37 sts. Place on st-holder. Bind off next 21 sts for front of neck. On remaining 37 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from under­arm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 8 sts every other row 4 times.

Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles, on right side of gar­ment, pick up 87 sts from shoulder to shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Sew shoulder seams, leaving neckband ribbing free. Sew underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles and Natural cast on 55 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 in. Change to No. 3 Needles increasing to 65 sts. Work in stockinette st increasing 1 st at each end on the 7th and every 10th row thereafter to 91 sts. Work even until piece measures 18 in. from lower edge. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 17 sts remain. Bind off.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place. Crochet 2 loops for but­tonholes on each end of front neckband. Sew buttons to edge of back neckband.
