Size 14

Materials Required - AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "GEM" COTTON YARN.
10 Skeins White or Colors.
1 Pair Bone Knitting Needles Number 6.

Gauge—4 sts = 1 inch. 5 Rows = 1 inch.

Length of side seam 12 inches.
Width between shoulders 13 inches.
Length of sleeve at underarm 5 inches.

Pattern:
1st Row. * P 2, K 6, P 2, K 1, repeat from * ending with P 2.
2nd Row. * K 2, P 6, K 2, P 1, repeat from * ending with K 2.
Repeat 1st and 2nd rows.
5th Row. This is the first cable row, then work a cable row after every 9 rows beginning with the 2nd row.
Cable Row. * P 2, slip the next 2 sts on a double pointed needle, hold in back of work, K the next 2 sts, bring the 2 sts on double pointed needle in front of work, K the next 2 sts, K the 2 sts on double pointed needle, P 2, K 1, repeat from * across row.

Back. Cast on 76 sts. Work even in pattern for 3 inches. Now increase 1 st each side every 4th row 4 times. Work even until back measures 12 inches.
Next 2 rows bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each row, then 2 sts at beginning of next 4 rows and 1 st each side of every other row 4 times. Work even until armhole measures 7½ inches. Next 10 rows bind off 5 sts at the beginning of each row and bind off remaining sts for back of neck.

Front. Cast on 43 sts and work 3 inches even. Next 4 rows increase 1 st at armhole edge. Work even until front measures 11½ inches.
Decrease at front edge every 4th row 14 times and at armhole edge work even until work measures 12 inches. Next row bind off 4 sts, then bind off 2 sts twice and decrease 1 st 5 times. When armhole measures 7½ inches bind off 4 sts every other row 5 times. Work other front to correspond reversing the shaping.

Sleeves. Cast on 43 sts. Increase 1 st each side every 4th row 7 times. Work even until sleeve measures 5 inches.
Next 2 rows bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each row. Decrease 1 st each side of every 4th row 4 times. Decrease 1 st each side every 2nd row 5 times then decrease 1 st each side of every row 5 times. Next 2 rows bind off 6 sts at the beginning of each row and bind off remaining sts.
Work 3 rows of single crochet around fronts and neck, making 4 buttonholes of ch 4 in the 2nd row. Work a row of s c around lower edge of cardigan and sleeves.
