REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 9(9-10) oz. Bulky Knit Main Color (MC).
6(6-7) oz. Bulky Knit Contrasting Color (CC).
NEEDLES: 1-pr. size 11 wooden.
1-pr. size 6 plastic.
Buttons

GAUGE: 2½ st = 1 inch

PATTERN STITCH:
Row 1: Work in seed st across row with MC.
Row 2: Work in seed st across row with MC.
Row 3: Change to CC and work in seed st across row.
Row 4: With CC work in seed st across row.

BACK: With size 11 needles and MC cast on 34(40-46) sts. Work in ribbing of k 1 p 1 for 1(2-2½) in. Work in pattern st until piece measures 10(11-12) in. for beg of work.

SHAPE ARMHOLE: At beg of next 2 rows bind off 2(3-4) st, dec 1 st at both ends of work 1(2-2) times. Work even until armhole measures 6(6½-7) in. from beg of armhole shaping.

SHAPE SHOULDERS: Using only MC for size 6 bind off 3 sts at beg of next 6 rows. For size 8 and 10 bind off 3 sts at beg of next 4 rows and 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

RIGHT FRONT: With size 11 needles cast on 22(25-28) sts with MC. Work in ribbing same as back. Begin pattern st on next row and keep first 5 st in ribbing for front border. Work same as back to armhole.

ARMHOLE SHAPING: At side edge bind off 2(3-4) st. Dec 1 st at same edge every other 1(2-2) times. Work even until armhole meas­ures 4½(5-5½) in.

NECK SHAPING: Beg at neck edge bind off 4(5-5) sts keeping in pattern. At neck edge beg of next row bind off 5(5-6) st. Dec 1 st every other row until there are 9(10-11) sts on needle at the same time, when work measures same as back to shoulder start shaping.

SHOULDER SHAPING: Using only MC bind off 3 st every other row on size 6. On size 8 and 10 bind off 3 st 2 times and 4 st once.

LEFT FRONT: Work same as right front reversing all shaping.

SLEEVES: With MC and size 6 needles cast on 28(32-36) sts. Work in k 1 p 1 ribbing for 1½(2-2½) in. Change to size 11 needles and work in pattern until piece measures 12(13-14) in.

TOP SHAPING: At beg of next 2 rows bind off 2(3-3) st. Dec 1 st at both ends of needle every other row until work measures 2½(2½-3) in. from beg of shaping. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off remaining st. Sew shoulder seams.

COLLAR: Using MC and size 6 needles pick up from center front of facing around neck edge 50(52-68) st. K 1 p 1 in ribbing for 3(3-4) in. Bind off loosely.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place. Sew buttons 2 in. apart and stretch a stitch even with button. Work around edge with single yarn. Sew side seams and block.
