PATTERN: Cable & Rib (Multiple of 15 plus 1.)
Row 1: (right side) K 2, * P 2, K 8, P 2, K 3, repeat from * across row and end P 2, K 8, P 2, K 2.
Row 2: P 2, * K 2, P 8, K 2, P 3, repeat from * across row and end K 2, P 8, K 2, P 2.
Row 3: Same as Row 1.
Row 4: Same as Row 2.
Row 5: K 2, * P 2, slip next 4 sts onto dp needle, leave in back of work, K 4, then K 4 from dp needle, P 2, K 3, repeat from * across row and end P 2, twist cable, P 2, K 2.
Rows 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: Same as Row 2.
Rows 7, 9, 11 and 13: Same as Row 1.
Repeat from Row 5 for Pattern Stitch.
BACK: With No. 1 straight needles cast on 100 (104-108). Work in ribbing K 1, P 1, for 2½ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern inc 6 (13-13) across the first row. Work until back measures 11 (11½-12). Bind off 6 (7-6) at the beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 5 (6-6) times work even until armhole measures 5½ (6-6½). Bind off 9 (7-10) at beg of next 6 (8-6) rows. Bind off remainder for back of neck.
LEFT FRONT: With No. 1 straight needles cast on 64 (64-70) keeping 9 sts at center front for border. Work border in garter stitch. Work in ribbing for 2½ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern until front measures same as back. Bind off 7 (6-7) sts at armhole edge 8 (6-6) times. At the same time dec 1 st at center edge every 4th row 15 (17-18) times. Work even until armhole measures same as back. Bind off as for back shoulder. Keep 9 garter sts border on needle and work for 2½ inches.
Bind off.
RIGHT FRONT: Reversing the shaping work to correspond to left front.
BUTTONHOLE: Work 3 sts from center edge, bind off 3 sts. On next row cast on 3 sts over the bound off stitches.
SLEEVES: With No. 1 needles cast on 52 (56-56) work in ribbing for 2½ inches. Increase 1 st at even intervals across last row to 61 (61-61) sts. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern for 1 inch. Increase 1 st each side every 6th row 11 (13-16) times. Work until sleeve measures 12 (14-15) or desired length to underarm. Bind off 6 (7-7) sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st each side every other row until 35 (37-37) remain. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of next 4 rows. Bind off remaining sts.
Sew seams.
