BACK … With No. 1 needles and color, cast on loosely

Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 1¼ inches, ending with row which ends with p 2.
Change to No. 5 needles and work loosely as follows: 1st row: K 2 tog, * k 1, p 1. Repeat from * across, ending with k 2. 2nd row: K 1, p 1 alternately across. 3rd row: (Right Side) K 2, * p 1, k 1. Repeat from * across, ending with k 2. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alter­nately until piece measures in all, ending with 2nd row,

Finish same as Back.
Starting at bottom, sew side seams for 7 inches. Starting at cuff, sew sleeve seams for 9 inches. Sew sleeves in, matching ribbing and ends of yoke. With White, work a row of sc around neck edge, hold­ing edge in to measure 10 inches. Work 1 row of sc around neck edge with color. Press with hot iron through damp cloth, stretching body of sweater to measure 19 inches all around. Sleeves should meas­ure 6½ inches around. Sew on buttons.
