MATERIALS

BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 6 Light Color, 8 Medium Color and 8 Dark Color

1 pair plastic knitting needles No. 10 ½ OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 16 sts = 4 ½ inches

NOTE: 2 skeins will make one strip

PATTERN STITCH: Worked on 16 sts.
Row 1: K 4, * wrap yarn around needle twice, K 1, repeat from * to last 4 sts, wrap yarn around needle once, K last 4 sts — 33 sts on needle.
Row 2: K 4, * drop one wrap st, P 2, repeat from * to last 4 sts, K 4 — 24 sts.
Row 3: K 4, K 2 tog, K 12, K 2 tog, K 4 — 22 sts.
Row 4: K 4, K 2 tog, K 10, K 2 tog, K 4 — 20 sts.
Row 5: K 4, P 2 tog, P 8, P 2 tog, K 4 — 18 sts.
Row 6: K 4, K 2 tog, K 6, K 2 tog, K 4 — 16 sts.
Repeat these 6 rows for pattern stitch.

STRIP: Cast on 16 sts. K 8 rows in garter st. Work even in pattern st until there are 67 complete patterns. K 8 rows in garter st. Bind off. Make 3 strips in Light Color and 4 strips in each of other two colors.

FINISHING: Sew strips tog as follows: * Dark, Medium, Light, repeat from * once more (center of afghan), Medium, Dark, Light, Medium, Dark.
