CARRIAGE COVER: With No. 4 needles cast on 165 sts.
Pattern:
Row 1—P 1, K 1, P 1 * K 3, P 1, K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row, ending P 1, K 1, P 1.
Row 2—K 1, P 1, K 1 * P 3, K 1, P 1, K 1, repeat from * across row, ending K 1, P 1, K 1.
Row 3—Repeat row 1.
Row 4—Repeat row 2.
Row 5—Repeat row 1.
Row 6—Repeat row 2.
Row 7—Repeat row 1.
Row 8—K 1, P 1, K 1, * Yarn over, purl 3 tog. yarn over, K 1, P 1, K 1, repeat from * across the row, ending K 1, P 1, K 1. Repeat these 8 rows until cover measures 36 inches. Bind off.
With No. 5 crochet hook, crochet 1 row of sc around cover.

SWEATER-BACK: With No. 2 needles, cast on 75 sts work in pattern as follows:
Row 1—P 1, K 1, P 1, * K 3, P 1, K 1, P 1, repeat from * ending P 1, K 1, P 1.
Row 2—K 1, P 1, K 1, * P 3, K 1, P 1, K 1, repeat from * ending K 1, P 1, K 1.
Row 3—Repeat row 1.
Row 4—Repeat row 2.
Row 5—Repeat row 1.
Row 6—Repeat row 2.
Row 7—Repeat row 1.
Row 8—K 1, P 1, K 1, * Yarn over, P 3 tog. yarn over, K 1, P 1, K 1, repeat from * ending K 1, P 1, K 1.
Repeat these 8 rows for pattern.
Work to underarm 7½ inches.
Bind off 3 sts each side, then K 2 tog. each side every other row 3 times, work until armhole measures 4 inches.
Bind off 7 sts at the beginning of each row 3 times each side.
Bind off all neck sts at once.

LEFT FRONT: Cast on 39 sts work in pattern to underarm 7½ inches.
Bind off 3 sts at armhole side, then K 2 tog. at armhole side every other row 3 times.
Work until armhole measures 3 inches. Bind off, 9 sts at neck edge, then K 2 tog. at neck edge every other row 3 times.
Work until armhole measures the same as back. Bind off, 7 sts from shoulder edge every other row 3 times.

RIGHT FRONT: Work the same, reverse shaping.

SLEEVES: Cast on 48 sts. K 1, P 1 for 1½ inches, increase to 57 sts across the row, work in pattern until sleeve measures 7½ inches. Bind off 3 sts each side, then decrease 1 st each side every row until 27 sts are left. Bind off.

Sew shoulders, sides and sleeves, sew sleeves in place.

NECKBAND: Right side, pick up 69 sts. K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off.

BORDER: Starting on lower edge of right front, sc in each st to neck edge, ch 1, turn.
Row 2—1 single cr in each st to lower edge, ch 1 turn, sc in next st * chain 2, skip 2, sc in next 9 sts. Repeat from * to last 4 sc chain 2, sc in next 2 sts ch 1, turn, sc in each st for 2 rows.

LEFT FRONT: 5 rows of sc in each st.

BONNET: Cast on 93 sts.
K 1, P 1, for 1½ inches. Work in pattern for 3 inches, 4½ inches in all.
Bind off 30 sts each side, then work on center 33 sts for 4 inches.
Bind off.

Sew side to center bound off sts.

NECKBAND: On right side pick up 86 sts. K 1, P 1 for 10 rows. Bind off.
