Knitting patterns sorted by what you already know

Skill labels in knitting are squishy — one designer's "easy" is another designer's "intermediate" — but they're still the fastest way to find a pattern you'll actually finish. StitchVault uses four levels, applied carefully and consistently across every pattern in the catalogue.

Beginner patterns assume only the absolute basics: long-tail cast-on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and bind off. New techniques (like working in the round on circular needles) are introduced with a short tutorial the first time they appear.

Easy patterns expect comfort with knits, purls, and basic shaping — perfect for a first cable, a first lace project, or a first piece in the round.

Intermediate patterns assume you can read charts, work in the round confidently, and execute basic shaping without a safety net. New techniques are linked to short tutorials but not explained from scratch.

Advanced patterns are written for knitters who enjoy long, complex projects with multiple moving parts — colourwork, steeking, set-in shaping, lace blocking, and the like.
